Please save Cambell’s UPC codes
Cold weather leads to warm, comforting meals–like soup! Don’t forget to save Campbell’s UPC codes for Marcy-Newberry. Over 100,000 UPC codes were sent by the Northern Illinois Conference UMW. They are redeemed for items such as books, playground equipment, computer software, etc. needed by Marcy-Newberry. It’s an easy way to help! Just cut out the UPC codes from Campbell’s products (soups, gravies, pork and beans, etc.) as well as those from Pepperidge Farms, Swanson and Franco American brands.
Need a Prayer?
Did you know that a group of pray-ers are devoted to praying for any of your prayer requests? You can write your request and drop the card in the large white Prayer Request Box on the table across from the name tags. You can also e-mail Julia Hooper. This prayer ministry prays your request for 30 days. All requests are kept confidential unless directed otherwise.
Support the BUMC Community Garden
Our great-tasting Fair Trade coffee is now for sale on the second Sunday of each month. After the service you’ll be able to purchase coffee, tea and hot cocoa mix, furthering our support of the United Methodist Coffee Project. Additionally, all net proceeds from the sale will go directly to support the BUMC Community Garden, a Missions project that supports the FISH Food Pantry in Carpentersville. Your purchase will directly support the expansion of the garden providing a greater source of fresh produce for those in need. Thank you.

Upgrading your home computer?
Bethel United Methodist Church began as three Hispanic families joining for worship and prayer in a BUMC meeting room once per week. Now, seven years later, they are a growing church providing ministry to the Hispanic Community in Carpentersville. BUMC, as part of the Northern Illinois Conference’s Harvest 2020 Initiative, continues to provide spiritual and financial support to Bethel UMC so that this much needed ministry can continue. Bethel UMC requires a “gently-used” computer and printer to handle the growing administrative needs of their congregation and have asked if any in our congregation would be willing to assist. Please contact Lou Schairer for more details.
BUMC Mentoring Program
“Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” –1 John 3:18
Missions and Outreach is exploring a partnership arrangement with ChildServ in establishing a mentoring program in Lake County. ChildServ has established church based mentoring programs in Cook and Dupage Counties and would like to expand this program to Lake County. A mentor is a friend and role model who offers guidance and support to young adults at risk. Mentors will work with young adults on educational achievement, setting career goals, building trusting relationships, providing encouragement and engaging in fun activities.
Those interested in participating are urged to sign up in the Narthex. Those that sign up will be invited to attend an informational meeting to be held in 4-6 weeks. This is an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of at risk young adults in OUR community. Sign up today! For more information, contact Pete Wesley.
