Flute and Guitar Concert
Barrington United Methodist Church presents Duo Alegre in a Flute and Guitar Concert performed by Belinda C. King and Steve Vazquez on Saturday, September 17 at 5:00 p.m. In this final concert of 2011 in The Sharing Our Gifts Series, the music will range from the opera The Magic Flute to a piece composed in memory of those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The concert will be performed at Barrington United Methodist Church. A fellowship dinner will follow the concert and a free-will offering will be accepted to benefit BUMC’s Hispanic Ministries.
A native of Tampa, Florida, Belinda King has performed extensively in Michigan, Florida, Virginia, Illinois, and Costa Rica, and earned her BA in Music Education at the University of South Florida and her MM in Applied Flute Performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Steve Vasquez’ love of the guitar began at the age of eleven. Currently on the faculties of William Rainey Harper College and The People’s Music School in Chicago, Steve was self-taught until he began his classical guitar studies under Steve Suvada at Harper. He then completed his BM with Mark Maxwell at DePaul University and his MM with Anne Waller at Northwestern University. All are welcome to enjoy the music and fellowship!
