Church LifeNoah's Ark RegistrationNoah's Ark Preschool began registration for the 2008- 2009 school year in January. Classes are available for children ages 2 through 6, and new this year is an extended day (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) Kindergarten. For information or to arrange a tour, please call Mary Bradley at 847-844-3738. Important Announcement!A security system has been installed in the Administrative Office area. During normal office hours, 8:30 a.m. till 4 p.m. on weekdays (1 p.m. on Fridays during the summer), the alarm will be disarmed. Additionally, the alarm will not be activated during scheduled meetings or appointments with any of the staff. If the door is unlocked you can enter. However, if the door is locked, even if you have a key, you will trip the alarm. All four doors leading into the office area are part of the system, so opening any of them will trip the alarm and require entering a code to avoid a service call from the local police. We will expect anyone tripping the alarm to pay the service call. WorshipNew Session! "Reconnecting 20's & 30's" Sundays 10:30-NoonWe're looking for young adults. If you are "twenty-or-thirty-something" and open to reconnecting with other young adults in the area -- please join us for food and a time to reconnect. Starting Sunday, June 22nd we will meet in the parlor, each Sunday, after church from 10:30 - Noon. Food will be provided each week. Your co-leaders are Kathy Black, Julia Hooper and Liz Teague. Questions? Please email Julia. Summer Bible StudySummer Bible Study began on Tuesday, June 10. You can enjoy these classes from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Parlor. We are studying I Saw the Lord by Anne Graham Lotz, the founder of AnGeL Ministries. Anne has passionately proclaimed God's Word to people around the world for more than thirty years. Her gripping narratives and heart-touching teaching have inspired listeners in arenas and prison cells, stadiums and Bible studies. She is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Billy Graham. Ce Watson is facilitating these discussions. Additionally, contact Ce if you would be interested in an evening study. Summer SoundsStudents going into 6th grade through high school can exercise their musical inclinations beginning on Sunday, June 15 in the Music Rehearsal Room from 8:45 to 9:20 a.m. This will be an opportunity for students to play our handchimes and Orff instruments. Contact Karen Maxwell if you have any questions. 2008 DisciplinesThese books of daily devotions are available in the church office for $12. They are printed in "enlarged type" for easy reading. These texts are self-study. Prayers - Presence - Gifts - ServiceShare Your TalentArtists, crafters, and "open mic" performers are wanted for the 6:00 p.m. reception and display in Fellowship Hall for our 5th Sunday Fine Arts Festival on June 29. The reception and display precedes the 7:00 performance in the Sanctuary of "Liberty--a Musical Celebration of Freedom" directed by Karen Maxwell. 2008 Foods Resource Bank CampaignAs of June 1, we have collected $8,050 for the 2008 Foods Resource Bank Campaign. Please remember that these gifts are often quadrupled by the time the crops are harvested and federal matching funds are applied. If you haven't taken advantage of the opportunity to participate, there are pledge cards, envelopes and additional information in the Narthex. Lay LeadershipBUMC relies on volunteers from within our congregation to staff a great number of committee positions that are absolutely essential to the day to day functions of our church. Additionally, volunteers plan and execute all of the BUMC programs that improve our lives. Lay Leadership is currently nominating people for our 2008-2009 Leadership Team. Please consider where your personal talents may be used for everyone's benefit and for the glory of God. Please indicate in writing which position you'd like to serve and give it to one of the ushers or turn it in to the church office. We will make every effort to accommodate your preference. Volunteer for Summer Children's ChurchChildren's Church is looking for VOLUNTEERS to teach during the summer months. Collect Campbell's Soup LabelsDon't forget to save Campbell's UPC codes for Marcy Newberry. Over 100,000 UPS codes were sent by the Northern Illinois Conference UMW. They are redeemed for items such as books, playground equipment, computer software and other items needed by Marcy Newberry. It's an easy way to help! Just cut out the UPC codes from Campbell's products (soups, gravies, pork and beans, etc.) as well as those from Pepperidge Farms, Swanson and Franco American brands. PLEASE NOTE: No longer are we turning in the front labels, now we need the UPC codes from the back of the label. Thanks for your help and participation!
