Go Green with the United Methodist Women!Water, the most precious resource... environmental awareness.... recycling..... and Christian stewardship? Learn how these topics meld together and how you can make a difference at the United Methodist Women's General Meeting on Thursday, May 15th at 10:30 a.m. at Barrington United Methodist Church, 98 Algonquin Road (at Route 59) in Barrington. The guest speaker will be Karen Hewitson, President of the Northern Illinois Conference United Methodist Women (UMW). Ms. Hewitson is one of 24 individuals chosen to be a part of a UMW "Green Team," that works on environmental issues. The Bible sends a strong message about being faithful with the rest of creation, and United Methodist Church Principles call for sound stewardship of the earth and environmentally friendly lifestyles. Ms. Hewitson will be focusing on water, but will address other environmental issues as well. All are welcome (men, too)! For more information, please call (847) 836-5540. Classic Arts Trio, consisting of Lyric Opera cellist Walter Preucil, his wife, accomplished violinist Stephanie Preucil, and noted pianist William Koehler, has given mission concerts for over fifteen years. Their special guest this year will be Sally Chishom from the Pro Arte Quartet. Walter played at Carnegie Hall to rave reviews, and the Preucils have performed throughout Europe and the U. S. "The purpose of the benefit concert is to share in the joy of music for the glory of God," said Stephanie. International desserts will be served.
