This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk. Register to join the walk today!
Hunger is one of the greatest injustices facing our world, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Ending hunger is possible, and it is possible in our lifetime. You can help make it happen. Our local CROP Hunger Walk is a great place to start. For an hour or two and a few miles, friends and neighbors will be coming together to “…love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.” (I John 3:18) CROP Hunger Walks are community fundraising events sponsored by Church World Service (CWS), an international relief, development, and refugee resettlement agency. Money raised by CROP Hunger Walks nationwide is used by CWS to provide food, medical care, disaster relief, and self-help development for people in need around the world. Twenty-five percent of funds raised in the Barrington Area Walk are distributed to local hunger-alleviating agencies in the Barrington area.
The Walk and all of its festivities will begin and end at Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 909 E. Main St., Barrington. Registration is at 12:30, the Walk begins at 1:00. There are many ways for you to be involved: be a walker, be a sponsor, be a volunteer the day of the Walk, promote the Walk in our church, provide healthy snacks for walkers, and pray for hungry people and those involved with fighting hunger throughout the world. Last year our church had 19 walkers and raised over $3,700. Help us reach a Barrington Area CROP Hunger Walk goal of $40,000 in 2017!
