Chancel Choir Cantata: I Hear the Prophet Callin’
Join us at either service on Sunday, November 30, as the BUMC Chancel Choir and Chamber Orchestra present “I Hear the Prophet Callin’.”
Composed in an Appalachian folk style, this moving cantata begins with the haunting call of the prophet—“Prepare the way of the Lord”—and the faithful response, “Make straight the way in the desert for our God.” The story of Christmas unfolds through tender melodies and vivid scenes: Mary “rockin’ slow and even,” shepherds in their fields, angels in the sky, and wise men following the star. With strings, tin whistle, hammered dulcimer, guitar, and autoharp, this unique musical experience invites us to begin Advent in joyful worship together.
