Rev. Mario Mayer
Pastor
Rev. Mario Mayer was born in Chile and studied at the Technical University of Temuco-Chile, where he earned a degree in Construction Engineering. Later, he decided to deepen his faith and completed a bachelor’s degree in Theology at the Evangelical Theological Community of Chile. He began his ministry in the Chilean Methodist Church in 1980.
In 1985, a powerful earthquake caused severe damage across the country, destroying churches, schools, and parsonages. He felt a special calling to combine his pastoral work with his construction knowledge. He dedicated part of his time to rebuild damaged buildings and support the communities that needed it most.
Throughout his service in the Chilean Methodist Church, Mario held various important roles. He served as pastor of seven congregations. He also served as National Director of Connectional Ministries, National Youth Adviser, and District Superintendent for the country's southern region.
In 1997, he emigrated to the United States, where he continued his ministry. He pastored several churches in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference, including Beecher City UMC, Shumway UMC, and Newton Grace UMC. In 2010, he moved to the Northern Illinois Conference, serving at Elgin: El Mesías UMC, Carpentersville: Trinity UMC, and Rockford: Beth Eden UMC.
After many years of service, he retired from active ministry in 2019. However, he remains deeply involved in the Christian community. Now, he dedicates his time to his family, supports his wife’s ministry, preaches as a guest speaker, and writes books to share his faith and experiences of life.
On a personal level, Mario has three adult children from his first marriage: Natalia, Constanza, and Mario Ignacio. In 2010, he married Rev. Fabiola Grandon-Mayer, and together they are parents to 12 year old twins, Pedro and Paulina.
El Reverendo Mario Mayer nació en Chile y estudió en la Universidad Técnica de Temuco, donde obtuvo un título en Ingeniería en Construcción. Más adelante, decidió profundizar en su fe y prepararse para servir como pastor completando una licenciatura en Teología en la Comunidad Teológica Evangélica de Chile. Comenzó su ministerio en la Iglesia Metodista de Chile en el año 1980.
En 1985, un fuerte terremoto causó grandes daños en el país, destruyendo iglesias, escuelas y casas pastorales. Ante esta situación, sintió un llamado especial para combinar su trabajo como pastor con su conocimiento en construcción. Así, dedicó parte de su tiempo a reconstruir los edificios afectados, apoyando a las comunidades que más lo necesitaban.
A lo largo de su servicio en la Iglesia Metodista de Chile, Mario ocupó varios roles importantes. Fue pastor de siete congregaciones, Director Nacional de Ministerios Conexionales, Asesor Nacional de Jóvenes y Superintendente de Distrito en la zona sur del país.
En el año 1997, emigró a Estados Unidos, donde continuó su ministerio. Fue pastor en varias iglesias de la Conferencia Illinois Great Rivers, incluyendo Beecher City UMC, Shumway UMC y Newton: Grace UMC. En 2010, se trasladó a la Conferencia del Norte de Illinois, donde sirvió en Elgin: El Mesías UMC, Carpentersville: Trinity UMC y Rockford: Beth Eden UMC.
Después de 40 años de servicio, en 2019 se retiró del ministerio activo. Sin embargo, sigue muy involucrado en la comunidad cristiana. Ahora dedica su tiempo a su familia, apoya el ministerio de su esposa, predica como pastor invitado y escribe libros para compartir su experiencia de vida y fe.
En su vida personal, Mario tiene tres hijos adultos de su primer matrimonio: Natalia, Constanza y Mario Ignacio. En el año 2010, se casó con la Reverenda Fabiola Grandon-Mayer, y juntos son padres de mellizos de 12 años, llamados Pedro y Paulina.
