Jennifer Whiting
Interim Director of Music
Jennifer Whiting brings a rich and diverse musical background to her role as interim director of music. With advanced degrees in choral conducting from Northern Illinois University and a strong foundation in piano and English from Rockford College, Jennifer’s expertise spans performance, conducting, teaching, and collaborative artistry. Over more than three decades, she has led community choruses, church music programs, and academic ensembles at all levels, notably directing Glen Ellyn–Wheaton Chorale and Gary United Methodist Church’s music ministry.
Jennifer’s passion for choral music includes an eclectic repertoire that honors both living composers and classical works, highlighting her commitment to vibrant and meaningful worship through music. She has also contributed broadly as a collaborative pianist, educator, and editor, deeply engaged in the choral community both locally and statewide through her leadership in the Illinois chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.
Beyond music, Jennifer loves spending time with friends and family and enjoys riding her bike when the weather is nice. She and her husband Rob live in Huntley, and they have two married daughters in the area. Jennifer also dedicates time to teaching and healing, volunteering at Refuge for Women Chicago to support recovery for women who have escaped trafficking.
The congregation will soon experience her dedication to excellence, creativity, and spiritual connection in worship through music. She shares, “I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to serve the congregation at Barrington United Methodist Church! Thank you for your warm welcome. I look forward to getting to know you, and I’m excited to journey with you as we create music that uplifts our hearts, glorifies God, and connects us all in faith.”
